Wedding Photography at Garstang Country Hotel
It’s a while since I’ve photographed a wedding at Garstang Country Hotel so I was looking forward to returning there for Carla and Jason’s wedding, and what a wedding it was. The morning of the wedding was extremely wet and overcast but the weather certainly didn’t affect the mood and excitement of the girls as they got ready in one of the many hotel rooms. I just love to photograph all the bridal preparations and on this occasion the inclemental weather gave some beautiful window light which led to some gorgeous striking photographs. When the hair and make-up preparations were complete it was time for Carla to get into her dress, helped by all her bridesmaids.
Jason, meanwhile, was greeting all the guests as they arrived and took their seats in the ceremony room. Before the ceremony began Jason had a few moments to chat to his dad and share a few laughs. The ceremony was beautiful, emotional and just perfect. Following the ceremony the rain was still pouring so we used the ceremony room to complete the group photographs the couple had requested.
Following the group photographs everyone was called through for the wedding breakfast followed by the speeches. Carla and Jason are such a fun loving couple and are surrounded by friends and family of a similar nature. This fun loving outlook resulted in some very funny speeches, especially those by the best men. They were certainly some of the funniest I have ever heard!
As the meal came to an end the rain dried up and the sun came out so Carla, Jason and Myself went off for a wander around the hotel to take some more formal couple photographs. We then ventured back into the hotel as the evening guests began to arrive. Once all the evening guests had arrived and settled in Carla and Jason cut the cake. On the face of it the Wedding Cake was a beautifully designed white wedding cake. However, as a little surprise, Carla had arranged for a special design on the back of the cake that Jason knew nothing about. I was told that the groom had a love of the movie Toy Story and so she had arranged for the back of the cake to have a Toy Story Design. Jason was so touched when he realised what his Bride had done for him.
Shortly after the cake had been cut everyone expected the couple to take to the floor for their first dance. However, Carla slightly broke with tradition and had their father daughter dance first. They began to dance to My Girl with lots of “Ahhhs” from the watching audience. But it wasn’t long before the DJ kicked in with Tiger Feet and the Bride and her Father rocked out with a fantastic dance routine. This was then followed by the more traditional first dance of the bride and groom. Carla and Jason were joined on the dance floor by all their friends and partied long into the night.
I would like to thank Carla, Jason and all of their friends and family for making me feel so welcome and for an awesome day. I wish Carla and Jason a very long and happy future together may all your dreams come true!
