A short history of The Hallmark Hotel, Leyland

In 2008 the Jarvis Leyland Hotel changed its name to Best Western Premier Leyland Hotel. It became part of the Best Western Hotel Chain, owned by the Feathers Group.

In August 2013, a landmark to celebrate the transport heritage of Leyland, was unveiled. The landmark is in the form of a 1938 Fire Engine (called Norma). To be on permanent show in a giant glass box outside the Leyland Hotel. This fire engine was part of the national protection fleet in World War II serving Morecambe and Heysham.

In early 2014 ‘Norma’ became one of Lancashire’s most unusual wedding locations. Instead of putting out the flames, potential brides and grooms are able to fan the flames of romance with Norma. The vehicle is now licensed to hold ceremonies. There isn’t anywhere else in the country where you can do this. It truly is one of a kind.

In 2018 the hotel changed hands again and became part of the Hallmark Hotels Group. It underwent a multi-million pound refurbishment of its leisure club. And a new executive floor was introduced.

The hotel has had continuous investment and achieved a Four Star Premier status. It was also awarded Lancashire Large Hotel of the Year.

In 2021 the Hotel, once again, became part of the Best Western Group. It also changed its name to Preston Leyland Hotel.
